Our mission is to serve the government and people of Ireland by leading, developing and regulating the agri-food sector, protecting public health and optimising social, economic and environmental benefits. 

We aim to: 

  • promote and safeguard public, animal and plant health and animal welfare for the benefit of consumers producers and wider society

  • provide the optimum policy framework for the sustainable development of the agri-food sector 

  • deliver a sustainable, growth driven sector focused on competitiveness and innovation driven by a skilled workforce delivering value added products in line with market demands

This portal brings together information on the full range of open international markets and products, and the relevant certification conditions, in a user-friendly format for exporters

  • You are an exporter/ business operator looking to export agrifood products and live exports.

Training & Programmes

Organic Processing Investment Grant (OPIG)

Scheme aims to help the development of the organic sector

The objective of the Scheme is to facilitate the development of the organic sector so as to ensure a regular supply of high-quality organic produce to the market.

You may be eligible if:

  • Are licensed organic operators registered with an approved organic certification body.
  • Are currently registered with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. 
  • Own or have leasehold title to the site for a minimum period of five years, on which it is proposed to carry out the development* 
  • Agree to provide relevant bank/building society/credit union details to ensure that all payments made by the Department are paid by electronic fund transfer. 
  • Provide a copy of Business Plan as per Annex A of the terms & conditions where the value of the application is greater than €90,000 excluding VAT.

EU Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 31 May 2023, on the making available on the European Union Single Market and the export from the Union of certain commodities and products associated with deforestation and forest degradation

  • Supply chain actors of the relevant commodities and products that may only be placed on the EU market, made available in, or exported from the EU

Fruit and Veg Producer Organisation EU aid

EU aid for Producer Organisations in the fruit and vegetables sector

EU funded scheme for fruit and vegetable producers, to provide supports to these sectors. New Producer Organisations in these sectors may be formed or growers may join existing POs.

  • You are a Producer Organisation in the Fruit and Vegetables Sector

Woodland Improvement Scheme

Offers financial support to forest owners for sustainable forest management

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in Ireland runs the Woodland Improvement Scheme (WIS) to provide financial support to forest owners for sustainable forest management practices. This helps meet the goals of both producing wood products and conserving the environment.

You may be eligible if:

  • You are an individual applicant or company

  • You must be the owner, leaseholder or joint manager of the land at the time of the application.
